TOWELS

In my family, growing up no one had a particular towel.

You would go in for a bath, and then use one of the towels hanging on the rail. Sometimes you had to search for the driest, but the system seemed to work well.

When I got married, my wife was horrified during our honeymoon to find that I had used her towel!

Your towel? What do you mean your towel – we’re married now, they’re all our towel.”

She had to explain that in her family everyone had their own towel, and it was a terrible faux pas to use someone else’s.

I’d never thought about it before. After much debate we agreed that her system made more sense hygienically.

It’s amazing the little things you have to negotiate to make a relationship work.
