In our society ‘stranger danger’ and ‘coward punches’ gain lots of media attention. Yet if you knew the statistics, you would know that it is more dangerous at home around those who are supposed to love you, than out in the community.

Domestic violence affects more women, men and children than stranger abduction or ‘coward punches’.
Don’t get me wrong, these are important issues that deserve their time, but somehow domestic violence doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
Why not? I’m scared to answer that question, because I’m afraid the answer might be that it’s too close to home, it’s too normal and almost acceptable in our society.
This cannot continue. Until we face up to this issue thousands of lives will continue to be battered and abused.
