I love that the second story in Genesis is a love story.

Adam has been created but he is alone. No suitable partner can be found for him. God walks every animal past Adam, which he names (and I’m sure delights over), but none of them can complete him; not even man’s best friend.
So God causes the man to fall into a deep sleep and, from a rib in his side next to his heart, he fashions woman. When Adam awakes he utters his first words, “Va, va, voom! This is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. I call her wo-man for she is my completer.”
Made from his side as a complimentary equal, now when the two come together, they become one again.
