On Sunday, Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced plans for the introduction of a new scheme under which the price of carbon will start at $23 a tonne from 1st July next year, rising by 2.5 per cent a year for three years after which the price will be market-driven. About 500 companies - the nation's largest polluters - are expected to be affected. Critics have suggested, among other things, that the new scheme will lead to significant rises in the cost of living. What do you think?...
