It’s an offer that seems too good to pass up. Melbourne-based Christian company Mission Travel Group has announced it’s giving away $100,000 in travel grants this June to “help more people live out their God-given dreams”.
The company is funding 13 individual grants of $5,000 and $10,000 in a range of categories including ‘Holy Land experiences’ (aimed at giving ministers the opportunity of visiting the Middle East), Bible college scholarships, ‘Compassion sponsor child visits’, ‘volunteer Africa’ (a range of month long placements in African nations) and cash grants available to Christian individuals, churches, ministries, and not-for-profit organisations.
Lisa Scerri, who founded the company with her husband Frank, says they are giving away the money because they believe in the importance of investing a substantial amount of their profits back into the Christian community.
“As much as we’d love to put the money into our mortgage or our own needs, there is an urgency to live out God’s work with those who are lost and in need.
“We want to hear from people and ministries around Australia about what God is calling them to do and how a grant could make that happen. We then get the fun part of funding those dreams and seeing the Kingdom of God extended!”
Applications for the grants can be completed online at www.missiontravel.com.au before midnight 30th June. The grant winners, who will be chosen by an independent panel, will be announced at a special event in Melbourne during August.
