The
Australian Prayer Network and the World Evangelical Alliance
have both released prayer lists. They suggest people pray
for the following...
• That through this tragedy many will come into the
Kingdom as a result of an outpouring of His love, mercy, and
healing, expressed through the lives of committed Christians
serving in the affected areas; that the compassion and splendor
of God to be revealed in the midst of such devastation;
• That Christian aid agencies will be given the resources
to be able to meet the massive need in evidence throughout
the affected areas. Pray for the timely arrival of adequate
water, food and medicine and the mobilisation of resources
to needed locations, particularly those in remote areas and
for the co-ordination of all relief efforts;
• That many in a position to do so, and with the
required expertise, will offer themselves in service to their
fellow human beings bringing His compassion, love and hope
to those who have lost so much;
•
Pray for the pastors and Christian leaders who are asked to
provide counsel, spiritual comfort and hope;
• That armed rebels who have been active in a number
of the affected areas, will not hijack aid shipments for their
own purpose;
• That relief efforts will not be thwarted by corrupt
officials within the governments of the devastated region;
• For particular grace to be given to those given the
task of identifying the dead, and operating and caring for
the injured. They are working in difficult and dangerous conditions. Pray
for their protection from disease;
• As you watch the news reports, stop and pray for each
region mentioned and grieve over the suffering so many
are experiencing;
• Pray for those who have lost almost all their known
families. For the children who have been orphaned. For the
parents who have lost their children. May they experience
God’s comfort, encouragement, solace, joy and strength;
• Pray for the people of our own nation that we will
be challenged to look beyond man as the master and controller
of everything, and that we will look to God for the answers
that man cannot provide;
• Bind the work of the enemy in seeking to take advantage
of the children who have lost parents and are now vulnerable
to people traffickers and paedophiles. Loose those involved
in the administration of law and justice that they will be
given great favour in the spiritual realm to overcome the
enormous odds they face in bringing such people to justice;
• Pray that those who have "lost" relatives
and friends in the disaster and who may never locate their
bodies will find closure so that they can go rebuild their
lives and not develop debilitating psychological problems
that will rob them of any future.
• Pray for the clean up and reconstruction process that
will likely take years;
