Mel
Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ has been
named America’s favorite drama movie for 2004 at the
31st People’s Choice Awards.
Gibson, who put $40 million of his own money into the movie,
reportedly told the audience that the award was the best of
his career.
“I depended on you and you were there...” he said.
“To me, the people have spoken.”
Other winners at this year’s awards included Michael
Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 which was named the
country’s favorite film and Shrek 2 which took
out a host of awards including those for best comedy and animated
movies, favorite sequel, favorite animated movie star (Donkey)
and favorite movie villain (the Fairy Godmother).
