Lady in Waiting: Sex. God. Love. (Extended Version)
Sabrina Peters, 2011
The premise of this book by Sabrina Peters is the truth about sex, God and love. God invented sex, He designed it beautifully to unite a couple in marriage. He placed boundaries for our protection and not to stifle us. Sabrina Peters, the author of Lady in Waiting. Sex. God. Love, is passionate that young women should know the whole beautiful truth of God's master plan for love, marriage and sex.
The truth is both beautiful and sobering. Peters, a youth pastor on the Gold Coast, doesn't shy away from the costs associated with treating this gift of God in a casual manner. The statistics alone make a compelling case for waiting for marriage to enjoy sex. Knowledge is power. The author adds to the armory of young women being told that ‘waiting’ is simply outdated, against our nature, and even irresponsible.
The author takes us on a journey through her teenage experience of determining that God would direct her path and lead her to her husband. This book will resonate with young women facing a plethora of pressures around dating and sex. Peters does not attempt to sugarcoat the reality of temptation and the costs of obedience. As she says, “You know sometimes being a Christian requires you to do the opposite of what you feel like doing".
While there is nothing new in writing about sex, God and love, the perspective of a young woman (the first version of this book was written by Sabrina at the age of 18!) means that it has an immediacy and a turn of phrase that relates well to a generation raised on instant gratification, struggling with the concept of ‘waiting’ and the benefits that it brings.
