POETRY: PSALM 23 - NOT

24th April, 2007

LIZ

The TV is my shepherd
I shall always be in want
It makes me sit down in comfy chairs
With my feet up on the table
It destroys my soul

It leads me into paths of imaginings
For the dollars sake

Yea though I flick through the valley of
the shadows of commercials
I will fear no evil
For the remote is with me
The pictures and noise they annoy me

I prepare a table of snacks before me
in total isolation
It fills my mind with non realities
My cup is dry and empty

Surely depression and sickness will follow me
All the daze of my life
And I will dwell in the land of the numb
FOREVER

Thanks for the feedback. Its encouraging to hear what people think. I wonder how the Psalmist feels about it all these years later?

You touched a nerve there. I will think of your poem when I next get too comfortable in front of the TV instedd of doing somehting positive. It is true about how it is easy to get depressed when we watch too much TV. Why is that? Probably the sense of hopelessness that develpps from being unproductive.
