WENDY BONIFACE
Where is God in all of this, people start to ask?
If God is watching over us, shouldn’t we be blessed?
Why are people suffering, and losing all their stuff?
Mums and dads and kids are lost, cars and houses too.
Businesses are wrecked, and crops beyond repair,
As rivers of rushing water flood our thirsty land.
Many just recovered from a devastating drought,
Are asking who’s in charge of this,
Who controls the taps?
When God made the world, He saw that all was good,
He put our food and water there, and said to take our fill.
Populate and tend the earth was what He said to us,
“Watch over My Creation, take care of everything.”
He gave us plans to live our lives in ways that would bring joy.
But man had other plans, he chose to live his way.
He decided greed was good, and power was supreme,
In fact, he even turned his back on all that God had said.
“I’ll do it my way”, became a well-known song,
We’re only here by chance, was even taught by Science,
So let’s just do what pleases us,
And to heck with all the rest.
Where was God in this?
It made Him very sad,
To see the folk He loved so much, go down this painful path.
So then He planned to send His Son, to save this proud creation,
They listened when it suited them, then sent Him to a Cross.
Even now, the LORD calls out,
“Come home, my wayward child,
All will be forgiven, my love for you is great!”
But still the Earth must suffer, the consequence of sin,
The floods and storms will rage, earthquakes and tidal waves,
Wars and terror rule the land, as evil has its way.
“Where is God in all of this?”
He weeps with those who weep,
And grieves to see the pain,
That man has done to Earth.
But watch to see His people,
Serving in the queues,
Helping with the homeless,
Loving those in need.
He said we are His hands and feet,
Those who follow Him,
Will give their lives for others,
Just as Jesus did. |
